Mary Alvarez, Ph.D. is a Texas licensed psychologist in private practice.  Her office is located in northwest Austin, Texas.  Dr. Alvarez has been in private practice since 1995 and her practice is both clinical and forensic in nature. 

Clinically, Dr. Alvarez currently works with women who are experiencing any number of personal difficulties or life challenges, including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, career-related stress, family stress, confidence struggles, child-related stress, and personality challenges. 

Forensically, Dr. Alvarez has twenty years of experience in complex family law matters.  Dr. Alvarez understands complex family dynamics and how these dynamics can negatively affect parenting and, ultimately, the child.  Dr. Alvarez currently focuses on high conflict parenting work and court-ordered psychological evaluations.  Dr. Alvarez is considered an expert in parental alienation. 

Dr. Alvarez is committed to providing the highest quality clinical and forensic services to her clients.  

Dr. Alvarez remains current in the research literature concerning the types of psychological disorders that she treats, as well as the relevant research concerning parental alienation, high conflict parenting, and the effects that high conflict parenting have on a child’s psychological and brain development.

Dr. Alvarez has been a speaker and presenter on many occasions throughout her career. She has spoken on topics such as ADHD diagnosis and treatment; memory recall and therapy; memory, trauma, and therapy; assessing suspected child abuse; children’s memories, recall, the effects of suggestibility, and parental influence. Currently, Dr. Alvarez presents the science and research findings to clinicians and attorneys concerning parental alienation, its identification, treatment, and how to manage parental alienation in the family law system.
